2017 – Excellent Charity Drive by members of Lodge Doric Kilwinning No. 68

Doric 300x225For several years now there has been a group of brethren getting together at Lodge Doric Kilwinning No. 68 to raise money for various charities. This year they decided to split the £2,700 they raised between Poppy Scotland and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

This decision was made because of the 100th anniversary of The Somme and their feeling that the Gurkha’s get a pretty raw deal.

Their fundraising took several forms – Sponsored walks carried out by Bro Don Rousseau,Bro. Jim Ellis, Bro. Eddie Lapsley and his good lady Liz.

A tea party ran by Liz Lapsley and they also ran a fun night in the 68 club in Port Glasgow on the 11th of November, 2016.

Bro. Lapsley would also like to thank the local shops Greenock & Gourock Golf Clubs who supported them with donations for raffles and auctions, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders for their donation, the band “No Contract” for playing for free at their Fun Night. not forgetting all who supported the fundraising by sponsoring them on their sponsored walks.
